Ngwonkw

From Project AU

The ngwonkw (Kamchrul: ngwõõkw [ŋʷõːkʷ]) is a type of beaded cord that was used during ancestral prayer rites. As the Kamchrul integrated themselves into Coalition culture, the ngwonkw was merged with the peya as a symbol of civic belonging by many Kamchrul. A typical modern ngwonkw has 36 beads.
